Leaving Lammyjammy, hello Atlantic City.

Day 8

Actually, I slept in longer than I wanted, but hey, when your having good dreams, it really not a bad thing. Usual routine, go get a coffee, update yesterday's blog, and pack up, then load the bike. But first, I've got to check the back tire and see how it's holding up. The tire is down a couple of pounds, and it did the same yesterday. I was hoping it was just a one off, but it looks like the tire has made the decision for me. I dig out the air pump and top it up. Luckily, a dealer is about an hour away. So off I go.

I end up at the dealer around 10 am, which is an hour later than I wanted, but all that beautiful sleep, was worth it, and when your on holiday, you deserve it.

Most dealers are pretty good about fitting you in, if your from out of town. Montgomeryville Cycles is not a exception. They had the tire in stock and could do it right away. While they were at it, I had them check the brake pads as well.

My poor lonely trailer.

It comes off pretty easy, unloaded, but full like it is, it was a bit of a pig. A bit later they tell me my brake pads are down to 30%. Well I'm all ready in for a pound, so why not just get it done. Don't even ask how much front pads are, though the backs were reasonable. While I'm waiting, I'll have a look around.

Nice K1600gtl, low mileage, like, just over 2000 miles at a ok price. In a few years, when I want to upgrade, I'll be looking for something like this. One of the reasons I like this shop, is this bike. They left the GPS in the bike, and a lot of dealers that I know, would have taken it out and sold it. It makes me think this is a pretty honest shop.

This is actually a pretty big shop, as they sell Yamaha's, Ducati's , BMW's, but no Honda's though. Lot's of used bikes as well, and since I had lot's of time to look around, and read, check up on emails, news etc.

A pic to remind me to buy one on ebay.

Nice R-90

Someone likes Honda's

Nice gloves, but not either at the $120
or $150 they were priced at, I'll see what's on eBay.

Me doing some more research and being too cheap to pay dealers prices, which btw is getting enough out of me today. I'm trying to get a second night in Atlantic City at a reasonable price for not a dump. I've got the time to research. Reviews of 3 or 4 out of ten don't give me that warm and fuzzy feeling of staying there. I'm cheap but not bedbug cheap. Anyway, I'll ask about extending my stay when I check in.

I got out of the dealership around 2 pm.  For all the work they did, no problem. Now onto Atlantic City.

The GPS says I'll be there in just over 2 hours. I'm just hoping that I get down there early enough to miss rush hour traffic, and that the bridges aren't too busy. Too bad I didn't have more vacation time, I'd love to spent a few days in Philly. A Geno's cheese steak, the Liberty bell, and of course, another tour on the Battleship New Jersey.

Lucky for me, traffic isn't too bad, and I make good time. On thing I love down here is EZpass,  and the full speed drive through tolls, with no stopping or slowing down. A bit of a slowdown on the
Walt Whitman bridge going over to NJ. It's a cool bridge and from there, on to the Atlantic City Parkway, which of course, is a toll road, thank god for EZpass or I'd be digging for change every hour.

The temperature driving down into Philly, has got up to the low 90's. It was ok as long as you were moving. As I'm driving down the Atlantic City Pkwy, I'm watching the temps dropping down to the high 80's, which was nice. I was actually getting the chills, and with 80 degree temperatures, who would have guessed. Next comes that smell of the ocean, ah, that always smells nice. The view coming into Atlantic City kind of reminds me of Vegas with everything mostly along the boardwalk. O, but that sea smell tells you ocean.

Anyway, I staying at Harrah's Casino, because they offered the cheapest rate. Which with all the add on's, works out to about $80 a night. Which for me is reasonable.

Not my photo, I'm not even going to try.

Nice place, but it's not on the Boardwalk. But cheapo me also doesn't want to pay an extra $100 a night for the privilege. But I do want to stay at a Casino. I do like all the casino extras, like the casino, restaurants, buffets, stores, etc.

I head over to the main entrance to unload the bike. There's nothing better than pulling up to the Valet parking and getting the "Hey, we can't park that", but once the know your unloading, it's cool. As I'm putting the bike on my centre stand, my lid starts to fall off the bike.  I go for the lid, but that's a big mistake on my part. The bike follows the lid. It's happened before and the bike has crash bars to stop major damage. So besides a couple of scraps, it's back up. This really is the only time I'll use a bellhop (mostly). Checking in with a couple of suitcases is easy, but suitcases and bikes don't go together. So I pack the bike with lot's of smaller bags, hence the bellhop is really needed. I go up and pick up my players card and then head over to the front desk to check in.

They have those new check in/out machines. Since the line is longer than it will take to use the machine, I try the machine. It goes well until it tells me my room isn't ready yet, and it will email me when it's ready. It's 4:30 pm already. So I join the line with all the other slepps. I get a really nice check in girl. She sets me up in a nice high floor room (and with a view). I remember to inquire about staying another night. She says the best she can do at the front desk is $89 (plus extras) for a extra night. She also let me know that I should be able to get a better rate on their "Total Rewards" site.

Yes, the view alone makes coming down to Atlantic City worth it!!

I head to my room, and the bellhop brings my stuff, so I get settled in. While I'm there, I check out the TotalRewards site. Guess what, I get the same rate that I got for the first night. Yea!!! So now I can spend all day Tuesday exploring Atlantic City. Kind of what I had planned, if I could work it out. One of the nice things about staying at a big name casino is the slot machines. They have all the ones that you want to play, unlike lessor casinos and their no theme slot machines.

So who would you rather play with, Batgirl or Catwoman?

After playing a bit and loosing, I head out for supplies and to pick up some dinner. I also get a head start on the blog.

Was it a good day? Yea it was, though anyone who ever tells you motorcycling is a cheap hobby is lying.

Mileage today, didn't check, though trip says around 1000 miles for the trip.
